All I gotta say is the SNES. Best 16-bit system of ALL time. Beautiful graphics, crisp sound, INCREDIBLE controls, and to this day still many pounds of nostalgia sitting at my game shelf and table. (Even though only most of my carts don't work anymore, the system still does!)

Favorite games in no order include: Super Mario All Stars+Super Mario World, Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy IV-VI, Chrono Trigger, Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2, Mega Man X1-3, Street Fighter II, Breath of Fire II, Dragon Ball Z Super Butoden 1-3, Dragon Ball Z Hyper Dimension, Batman Returns, The Adventures of Batman & Robin, etc.

And also, who couldn't forget the WONDERFUL Killer Instinct?

Seriously, I cannot name any other system with any more games that I truly ENJOYED. None have come to mind.

Truly iconic games that defined fun for my childhood. Though it's almost 20 years old, my love for this true console is still intact. Sure, there were games that weren't that hard to play, and could be boring afterwards, always doing the same thing over, and over again. But still, difficulty or graphics ain't what makes a great game. It's all about fun, that's why they're called "games".

I used to have a TurboGrafx-16 when I was little, but the only games I remember playing on it were Bonks Adventure and Alien Crush (Or w/e that pinball game was called). For the retro consoles, SNES is easily my favorite, simply because it was the one system that started me off on the series that I like today.

For current gen gaming systems, I sort of went portable after the PS2. I still play and enjoy my PS2, PS3, GC, and Wii, but I mostly spend time with my DS and PSP now. Recent games I've played for the latter 2 were Star Ocean: Second Evolution for the PSP, and Ys: Books I & II for the DS.

I have trouble choosing a fav system, I have a hell of alot of gaming systems, and I'd say that I play them all regularly. I love video games, if it's fun, I'll play it. If anything, what I use MOST for gaming would be my pc. Though I truly cannot say for certain what my complete all-time favorite system is.

SIDE NOTE: Anyone remember wen the gameboy color came out? I totally crapped my pants with excitement. I got an atomic purple gameboy color alongside of Pokemon: Gold when I first got my gameboy color. OOOOHHHHH I remember the excitement...... good times, yo..... Honestly I don't think I was ever more excited about a console since..... maybe it was my being young, or it could be that my handheld video game system was in COLOR! w00000000t!!!!

nearly 10 years ago a console was revealed it was revoluationary it was the dreamcast iit's initial hits were the greatest of all time:
Sonic Adventure
Soul Calibur 1
JET GRIND RAIDO!

however a year later a little thing called the PS2 came out it had very little games and didn't look as good but some how it over took the Dreamcast easily with the help of hackers sales declined and they stopped production all together and with it sega died

Sega lives as a independent and contracted developer.
They still can make a choice to create a system, I think they released a handheld only in Japan not to long ago.
Also, the PS2 was a superior system, it's like the dreamcast vs the Ps2 to todays Xbox360, obviously the ps3 is superior cause of the blue-ray disk(50GB) to the 360s DVD-DL(15GB) and lol, sony can kick Microsofts ass at hardware and software any time of the week.

My Favourite console in it's theory is the Wii, it's totally revolutionary with introducing motion detection into games, but it's very poorly implemented, especially the way Nintendo is tending to lean towards the Shovelware section. Motion Sensing is the closest we have to VR in homes at the present moment. But, until the Game developers start to pull their fingers out of their arses, we're stuck with mostly crap for the console.

My favourite of all time would have to be the N64. Super Mario 64 was the first 3D game I ever played, and it was amazing, I still classify it better than most 3D platformers out today!

I don't think judging a console by its media compatibility is such a good idea...

Indeed, but when you think about it, until XBox 360 gets a blu-ray player, which I've heard they are (dont hold that to me), cross platform releases could possible be bottlenecked due to the less amount of space available on the Xbox's media. I'm speaking hypothetically, of course. I doubt they'd bring out games which need all 25GB for a long time.

But yes, Mystic, please don't start a console war, it's a topic about what systems are your favourite, not a topic about which console is better and why.

Regarding the media on Xbox360 though, you can always multi-disk the game in which has been done already. So no, space shouldn't be an issue.

Woot, a place where console wars aren't likely to start. d(^-^d)

Mine'd have to be the Xbox 360. It just has more games on it that I like than other systems. (Which reminds me, FINAL FANTASY 13 ON THE XBOX WOOT! Now I don't have to wait to get a Ps3 to play it. happy.gif) I love all the systems, though. The only modern-gen one I've yet to play is the Ps3, due to lack of money.

I prefer the SNES myself. Lots of the games that were the start of my gaming experience, Mario, Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire, all came from that system. Of course, the original Sonic series still has a special place in my heart.

My all time favorite system is also the SNES. Props for Allen Hunter for bringing in the 'Killer Instinct' shot to start this off. Killer Instinct is one of my most favorite SNES games.

I had my Genesis now for as long as I can remember (and he still works!) And it was definitely something I enjoyed way back then, even though I had only a small selection of games at my disposal. I had a few Shining games (Shining Force 2, Shining Force CD and Shining in the Darkness), and three Sonic the Hedgehog titles, Soeil and Landstalker. They were all really great games back then, even though I never owned a snes and enjoyed the awesome titles that were on their too.

However, my overall favourite console definitely has to be the Playstation 2. It had so many awesome titles, a list too long for me to write down here and its still lasted to this very day. Plus, who can't forget the fact that a large host of RPGs that it has in its collection
While I'm at it, I should list the worst console on my list. Over the last few months, I've be querying which next gen console to get between PS3 and Wii. After a little researching I decided it would be PS3, because I realised the Wii had lots and lots and lots of really crappy games on it and barely any RPGs.(The only good one on there was a Symphonia game if I'm not mistaken.) Don't get me wrong, a lot of people like the Wii, but I just really hate it. Its just an excuse for Nintendo to produce loads of crappy games the community will lap up and I don't exactly want to be jumping around after work, because I simply won't be in the mood for it. Don't take offense to it, its just my opinion.

I think SNES is probably my all time favorite. Chrono Trigger, FF4-6, Secret of Mana/Evermore/SoM2, Illusion of Gaia, Super Mario RPG, Lufia 2... and so much more. You've gotta give love to Sega for Shining Force and Phantasy Star series, too. So... for reasons of the virtual console I'm a huge fan of the Wii.

I'm an RPG gamer first and love puzzles: I think that sort of defaults my current favorite to the DS. There's an RPG worth playing every month or so and there's been a handful of awesome RPGs, plus some awesome puzzle games and there are word games I like too. The proper consoles (PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii) aren't giving the attention to the RPG genre I'd like to see, and what RPGs do come around tend to have a lot of action elements. I like games that make you think hard (think Fire Emblem).

Obsession: you missed one of my personal favorite games of all time, another RPG for the Wii... Fire Emblem! And don't discount the virtual console. It's packed with awesome classic RPGs.

I love my PS2, but I love my NDSl even more- Pokemon DS and Pokemon GBA.

I play all the time on the DS, especially since it's compact and portable (like how I use my laptop more than my desktop).

Indeed. That was one of the considerations I have against buying a DSi.
