I can buy a used car for 500 bucks. NDRD where can I get Windows 7 for 30 bucks? I can get some of previous operating systems for may be 20 bucks, but not Windows 7.

Microsoft had a deal with college students, I'm not sure if it's still on, that Students in the US with a .edu email could get a copy of windows 7 for only $30. The same deal was avaliable in the UK, but it was 30 pounds.

I'm actually happy they are attempting to make computers easier to use. Less explaining to customers different things that i shouldn't have to explain. Technical support industry approves of their efforts.

My bad, I'll get into college back again to get a fresh copy. I'd really like to have a copy of this Windows version.

So did somebody see the screenshot I was talking about?

OK, so I got a new laptop with that Windows 7 drivel pre-installed last week, and I am not surprised it's terrible. My friend was right when he stated that this operating system is just a glorified Vista, and seeing how much I didn't like Vista (especially concerning the 64-bit junk), there's nothing promising about 7. The only good thing about Windows 7 (same going for Vista) is the visuals, but I get enough hard-ons for Windows XP, even if it is a 6-year-old operating system.

All those T.V. actors that starred in lame commercials supporting sales for this hunk of junk are seriously just acting or are total numbskulls, thinking it's "simpler" to use. Really? Are you fucking kidding me? Getting a laundry list of error messages when you try to unzip programs made for running on previous operating systems or when you try to save new files to a folder originally created in Windows XP is "simpler"? Whoever first thought of this term to describe Windows 7's "usefulness" must have seriously been on crack, because I actually find Windows 98 to be MUCH simpler - and that's saying a LOT. And even if something that old is completely slow, it's "simpler" than Windows 7 because I don't get any complicated error messages.

I am pissed. I am in the process of downgrading that laptop to Windows XP, but it won't be easy. And, I don't give a flying fuck what anyone thinks of the negativity displayed all over this post. This is just how I feel about your "simpler" system. Fuck you, Microsoft.

Most of my hatred is geared towards 64-bit, but had it been at least 32-bit, then maybe I would've backed down a tad. But no; that bullshit had to happen to me. I don't recommend Windows 7 anyway. Why should it be recommended, anyway? Just because it's 'new'? Windows ME was new at the time it was officially released, but that doesn't mean it's a great operating system. Just saying.

To this day, I still remain loyal to Windows XP, as it's the only one of all the other Windows that I had the least problems with. It's probably just me, Sicksinz, and Skully in this thread who are not very much impressed with 7.

I haven't used Windows 7 yet myself, but what I DO like about it is the fact that it displays characters from all languages without having you to install stupid language packs (like Windows XP does).

Vista was an unfinished version of windows 7, Microsoft needed or wanted money so they released it early, kinda like a beta they could make money from. tho it exposed tons of bugs that are fixed in 7... at least we hope...Microcrap

64-bit Windows 7 + No XP Compatibility Patch = 3

My friend had a computer they wanted me to upgrade for them. It originally ran XP, which ran awesome on his PC. It had it's typical push-ctrl-alt-del-and-hit-the-monitor times as would any computer.
When it came to test driving Win7 (32-bit 'Ultimate' release) on his barely 1yr old computer, it ran better than XP ever would have. And seeing as I had installed the XP Compatibility patch, most older-gen apps worked better than expected.

And from past experiences, 64-bit machines hate me, and I hate them.
And Allen, I think the "compatible with old XP shit" mentality is geared towards people that have the 'Professional', 'Enterprise' and 'Ultimate' releases, as they can use and run the XP Compatibility patch, whereas 'Home Professional' and 'Starter' releases can't use said patch.

Windows 7 Ultimate is on my Desktop and Vista on my Laptop. They have some design looks that match and well I have no issues playing any software (even Win1995 software that has never been upgraded for other window versions).
