RPG Maker 2000 was good for its time, and still is quite interestingly. I just prefer 2003 over it anyday, since it has better improvements like the side-view ATB system, Class system, and also, its RTP graphics are superior to 2000's.

Yeah this was my first maker I have fond memories of it but I don't use it anymore because I wanna learn more advanced things like real programming and because I like Ruby. But I would play around with it if I had time to.
I liked this better than RPG2003 for the sole reason that the battlesystem that was not satisfactory in RPG2003. |

Ahhh, so many projects attempted and none finished...
Still, this is THE maker for the begginers. |

A lot of people prefer 2000's Rtp to 2003's RTP. When I say a lot, I say a lot...
The only thing I could understand is the nostalgia (the fact that it was the FIRST ground-breaking Maker), and that's it. But everyone has their own opinions, and I respect them. --------------------

I think the RTP was fine on both it was mostly just two different styles. RPG2003 had a few new functions that was better so I used it to make a sim RPG (but I couldn't figure out how to do it in the end).
People say RPG2000 is the best maker for beginners? Wouldn't VX be the best one. It has about everything 2000 have if I remember correctly and it has RGSS2 so beginners can take a look at how things are done there and eventually learn more advanced stuff like scripiting in RGSS. And on a top of that it has higher resoloution so you can draw pictures for it more easily. |

VX was an attempt to combine the power of XP (Scripting) with the easy going look and features of 2000/2003. As we all know that didint go over too well. I'd say XP is a great maker to start out on. It takes some time getting used to but I prefer it over VX. -------------------- RPG Crisis YouTube Channel! I'd say XP is a great maker to start out on. It takes some time getting used to but I prefer it over VX. Yeah I guess I can't see why though. RPGVX looks so good, haven't used it much yet though. |

Bro, this low quality image game maker is, for real, when the dreams started, for me and for a lot of us around the world, it remind me the age of Dragon Quest (Warrior).
When I foud it for the fist time, my mind exploded in millions of ideas. I thought about a good RPG version for: Conan, Zillion, Hokotunoken, Berzerk, Thundercats, Transformers, Ito Iagami and Daigoro, and a lot of others... But, when we make/play in RM2003, whe can see our own kind of FF6. Don't you agree? I agree but I usually like to make original games rather than based on known work but it happens when I want to make a traditional turnbased RPG style Zelda game for RPGXP or when I found FFVII charactersets for RPG2000 for the first time. I immediately started a Final Fantasy project. |

No matter how old this is, I still love it. XP and VX all have pros and cons but this has so many cool resources that I just can't find for xp and vx... Downside is graphics of course... Compared to xp and vx, lol... I wish they could just take all the best from every maker and cram it into a huge new rpg maker that has tons of resources and several more event commands and they really need to learn that sci fi rpg's are cool too, but they never put anything futuristic in these makers... I know I can just find these resources eslewhere, but I still hope Enterbrain starts to add these things in.
