But I have been using it for almost a week, and now it tells me that COMDLG32.OCX is outdated...
I have no idea why it just started doing this to me.

This happens every once in a while, just try downloading again and it should work

Yeah this is due to the installer, originally I thought it would warn users with vista and higher of the compatibility issues but instead it wont let you install at all, I will upload a fixed exe to fix this problem.

Once again thank instalshield see the fact they have support for basically installation of every run time package EXCEPT visual basic 6 which leads to going through tons of fucking loopholes or have to register each dll file individually and seeing there are a fuck load of dlls in the runtime package I set it to extract the dlls that were depended to the edtior and we see how that worked out..
But if your running into run time errors the run time installer can be found on Microsoft's website by searching "vb6 run time"

try installing the newest service pack for vb6 and see if that stops the problem, also i would recommend staying away from registry optimizers seeing they can fuck with registry entries and fuck up your run time package installation which reinstalling usually doesn't fix.

Hopefully I'll be more patient with trying to learn the map editor this time around. x3
Thanks for the update and the fix!

Could someone run me through all the steps necessary to play it on Windows 7 just after a fresh install?

I appear to be suffering from the same problem as Mako Star. I'm getting Runtime Error 339: Component COMDLG32.OCX or one of its dependencies is not correctly registered.. I've gone ahead and downloaded and installed the latest service pack for vb6 but it appears to have done nothing to solve the problem.
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

The only suggestions I have would be to change your regional settings and try running in compatibility mode for XP sp3.
I may re-download this and see if I can get it to work in the near future... as I've always wanted to try 3drpge.
Edit
DLing it and trying it now..

EDIT: I have acquired the file d3drm.dll, which has allowed me to play other peoples' projects. However, I still could not run the editor. Here is the exact error I get when trying to run RE3Dev.exe from the root folder (which is the Editor program):
Run-time error '339': Component 'COMDLG32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.
When I do a little research on what comdlg32.ocx is, I discover it to be a file associated with visual basic 6. Looking up at as well, I procured it and placed it in the syswow64 directory of Windows. The good news is that I no longer get a 339 run-time error. Instead I get a new error!
Run-time error '429': ActiveX component can't create object.

I got the demo games to work the other day, but I couldn't get the editor to work.
Megaman knows how, because he even has his 3drpgeditor project uploaded onto the site.
But for vintage RPG Makers, I like to use Network RM2k. keke
I did get 3drpge to run one time a few years ago, but the mapping was unfamiliar so i gave up pretty fast.
Also, try checking in the Archive section of the site. Maybe there are more posts to scrounge up for 3d rpg editor there.
And good luck!
