Hi all,
Just wondering on what people are looking forward too in the new fable game. As I live in england I will have to wait until the 24th to get my copy but those of you in america should be having fun tomorrow I assume. I'm looking forward to the multiplayer over the net (which was recently announced). There are many of my friends I don't meet up with any more to it would be good to see them in a world like environment (IMG:https://rpgcrisis.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Never once played Fable, and probably won't care. If I want to buy a Fable game, I'll resort to the PC version.

After playing Fable II here is my opinion on the game.
Its Mediocre Pros: - The Dog. You find yourself paying a lot of attention to your dog to the point where if someone kicks your dog get ready for a village massacre. - Story. The story in Fable II while at times unclear is pretty decent in terms of RPG stories. I wont go into detail because I don't want to ruin it. - Good/Evil It's really cool seeing your character progress on either side. While its extremely harder to become good then evil I attempted to become good. - Lore Throughout the world and book stores you can purchase and view books detailing the Fable II world. It also gives insight into some of the characters past which I found interesting. - Emotions While extremely easy to use its always fun seeing how the NPC will react to what emotion you use on them. - Family The ability to get married and have a kid is pretty cool. I ended up having 2 families but I never visited one of my wife's so she divorced me. (IMG:https://rpgcrisis.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) You can also have unprotected which might lead to you getting an STD or the girl pregnant. You can also have sex with 2 girls at once, its not easy but I managed to do it. Cons: - Co-Op Its painfully obvious Co-Op was an afterthought, originally you were supposed to be able to join a friends game with your hero and you were able to influence their world. Now you can only join as their henchmen and are limited to what you can do. Both players also share the screen even if playing over XBox Live. - Developers Some of the devs are complete ass holes. Go look at the LionHead forums and read the topic about Co-Op. One dev post something about giving all the whiners a handbag the insult being he basically called them all girls and pussies. The final post was by another dev and he basically tells the complainers to go ###### yourself and they don't care. - Map The inability to access a map without having to go through the menu is really frustrating to the point where I found myself not caring about exploring anymore because there's no way to keep track of where you've been. - Mini-Games I hate with a passion the mini games in Fable II like the Bartender, blacksmith, wood cutter...etc. I'm there to play the game not spend hours (and yes I mean hours) forging swords while hoping to god I land the moving ticker in the green section. All the mini-games are painfully slow and not fun at all. It starts out easy where you need to get 100 gold forging swords and then it goes to 1000. You do have a gold multiplier but miss once and its back to 1 which is like 7 gold. Try getting 27,000 gold and only making 7 gold, basically the higher the multiplier the faster the ticker goes. I also experienced some sort of lag when I would get my multiplier up to 13+, had to hit it just before the spot I wanted it to stop on when its supposed to stop once you hit the button. - Armor Armor in Fable II...oh right. There isint any! Obviously the devs thought armor was unneeded and thus in Fable II you don't have armor, all you can do is change your clothes that change other factors. I don't think there is even a defense stat in Fable II. - Spells I found myself not using spells later on in the game, not because they suck but because I was limited on the spell levels I could use per spell. It doesint matter that I had 2 level 3 spells. I could only select 1 of them for the level 3 spell slot. Theres 5 spell slots total meaning you can only have 1 spell of each level in each slot. You can have the same spell in each slot. Also to use a level 5 spell you have to charge up your spells meaning it goes from 1 to 5 and then you can finally use it. Your weaker when charing spells and it takes forever to charge making it almost pointless to use spells in battle unless you like dieing... a lot. - Useless Sidekicks Theres a part where a girl named Hammer follows you around and attempts to help you. Shes supposed to be stronger then you but when she was with me I found myself taking out all the guys and because shes with you there are way more guys then usual. She also would get the crap beaten outta her causing her to go down on one knee (She can't die so its her death pose) until the battle is over. Nevermind I'm fighting 4 guys at once, here comes 3 more because she sucks. I also wanted to kill her when we were in a town, she never ever ever stops talking and only has like 10 lines so you end up hearing the same thing over and over and over again. - Stupid NPCs I made a lot of the girls fall in love with me and even some guys wanted me ( (IMG:https://rpgcrisis.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) ). Every single time I went to a certain town the people would follow me EVERYWHERE in the town. I couldint lose them. See if I went into someones house I would get in trouble and finned but no the 20 people that follow me into my house can do whatever they want. Also there was times when I would accidentally pull my sword or gun out or use magic and the people in the town FREAK out, they act as if I was going to kill them. I got really old really fast (like the 2nd time it happened). - Jump I'm still at a loss as why there was no jump function. instead of jumping over some small stone wall I was forced to walk around the entire thing to get back on the path. Sometimes I was presented with a option where my character automatically jumped over the wall but that only happened like 2 times. - I kill someone in a forest and the local town sheriff comes after me right when I get back clause. Now this didn't happen all the time but it happened enough times to piss me off. I would bring someone out to a forest and make sure NOBODY was near me at all and then I would kill the person. I then would go back to town and BAM a sheriff would come up to me and attempt to arrest me for murder! Now I only got to the part where you go into the Spire to save Garth but I doubt anything I mentioned changes. I know what your thinking "EC really hated Fable II" but that's wrong. I had fun playing it but I just got bored and all the problems started pissing me off. Will I buy it? Nope because I'm getting it for free but I would when it went down to 30 dollars. Also my friend also experienced some funny problems. The invisible dig site where the dog would go mad barking about a dig site that you couldint dig up. He also experienced quite a few animation glitches like people attacking without swords yet he would hear sword noises or when he was cutting word the axe was in the log and he was cutting the wood with nothing. Fable II while a great game in my opinion is a 6/7 out of 10. |

I'll play Fable 2 when Peter Molyneux stops being a twat and overhyping stuff we don't care about.
As Yahtzee said, with Fable 2, it's a case of you can, but why would you want to? Example: You can get married, have kids and buy every friggen' house in the world, but why would you want to? |

Meh I am not interested with any of his games anyway. I watched someone playing Fable 1 and frankly I couldn't care any less about the game. Peter's Theme Park for the Playstation was ok, not too bad of a game but could be a lot better...

I have to agree, Fable II was nothing new and nothing special in my opinion.
It's pretty funny. We have around 20+ used copies of Fable II at my store yet every time we get a used copy of Fallout 3 (PS3 or 306) we sell it within 3 days max. I can't tell you how many people bought Fable II on launch, then bought Fallout 3 on launch and the next day or so come in and trade in Fable II. To quote a customer of ours upon asking him why he was trading in Fable II. "Its impossible for me to go back to Fable II now that I've played Fallout 3, Fallout 3 lets me do whatever I want no matter what. In Fable II I'm restricted to this linear story where I have to stop someone from taking over the world. Sure you can explore and do some side-quests but the main story is the same thing no matter what I do. In Fallout 3 right off the bat I blew up an entire town, trying doing something like that in Fable II." |
