The game is set in a solar system with the sun in the beginning stages of a super nova. For some reason it will not explode and years go by with people forgetting about the danger. A war over 400 years ago left a once mighty nation in ruins. For decades the people of this nation wander aimlessly on the planet Coyas not able to form a new civilization. After an unknown scientist discovers space travel and a way to make asteroids habitable people of the fallen nation migrate to space. This is the beginning of the mighty asteroid colony Finel Capital. Eventually people discover that their is a limit to space travel since an impenetrable asteroid/debris dome surrounds the solar system thus the name Hells Dome is given.

Playable Characters:

Deren Star is the main protagonist of the game and has been noted for his similarity with Cloud of Final Fantasy VII. He is a mercenary from Arleah who takes odd jobs together with his partner. In battle, Deren favours the sword, seemingly the Buster Sword model, and his special skill is called Sword Skill.
Motor is an android and Deren's best friend. She often helps him out with hacking into computer terminals and he values her help dearly. Motor wields a variety of handguns and mech fists as her weapons, and her special skill is called Machinery.
Lisbeth is a young girl, around the age of 11. When Deren and Motor finds her, she is suffering from amnesia and they set out to find something that can restore her memory. Lisbeth prefers the bell as her weapon, and her special skill is called Terrain.
Ibis is a member of the Su Karu Hunters, a band of treasure hunters (although more known as thieves). Ibis is trying to find his friend, who has gone missing. Ibis fights with daggers, and his special ability is called Thievery.
Ellana Tugama comes from the town of Ress. Ellana knows nothing of technology and she often appears a bit helpless in space. Ellana's weapon of choice is the bokken (Japanese wooden sword used in kendo practice), and her special ability is called Blue Magic.
Fuban is a mysterious warrior. Fuban very rarely lets anybody know anything about him, and he often seems heartless. Fuban wields lethal claws in battle, and his special ability is called Kakutou (Japanese for fisticuffs).
KioSen is a little doll, although he is actually a man who ended up inside a KioSen doll after an experiment gone wrong. KioSen attacks enemies by hurling beakers at them, and his special ability is called Use Item.

Non-Playable Characters

Skeet: Skeet is a friend of Deren's, who often finds work for him and Motor. When Skeet invents a weapon protoype and it gets stolen, he asks Deren for help, unknowingly launching his friend into a great adventure.
Sho: Deren's former employer. Sho owns the Six Star Casino, a resort on Stars Bliss. Sho doesn't play fair, and Deren resents him because of this. The other reason that Deren hates Sho is that he once left Deren to die on Ally Luna.
Heran: One of the four leaders of Finel Capital. Heran has been proclaimed the sole leader of Finel Capital. But there's more to him than meets the eye...
Cid: The boss of the Su Karu Hunters. He owns an airship, the Lawless, and Deren must fight him in order to obtain the ship.
Coral and Reef: Two ex-Su Karu Hunters, kicked out for playing dirty. The player will fight them as bosses at a point in the game.
Kiro: A mysterious person, who appears to and fro in Deren's dreams. Who is this person, and what connection does he have to Deren?
Doctor Chad: The friendly doctor who found Deren in the ocean near Corret and brought him to his senses. Deren brings Lisbeth to him and sees if he can help.
Mayor Kidora: The mayor of the town of Darum. Kidora is an inventor, and she loves building things. She is particularly fond of Motor, and will often sell machines to the party.
Oracle Dihla: Oracle Dihla resides in the Astral Tower. Following Chad's failure to restore Lisbeth's memory, Deren brings Lisbeth to Dihla.

Final Fantasy: Endless Nova has a battle system like the system of Final Fantasy II. This means that the player selects actions for the entire party at once, and then they and the enemies take their turns. The order is based on Speed.

A battle can either be normal or pre-emptive (then the screen will say "First Strike" and you will get a free turn). At the beginning of every turn, you can select three commands: Battle, which allows you to select commands individually for each party member, Berserker, which makes the CPU take control of the party, and Escape, which is pretty self-explanatory. (If you fail to escape, your opponents get a free turn. You will always succeed to escape on the first turn of a pre-emptive battle.)

When you select Battle, four new commands will be available: Weapon, which allows for a physical attack, Special, which lets you use a skill, a summon, or magic, Guard, which makes the character defend, and Use Item, which allows the character to use an item.

No status ailments last after battles end (except for KO and Petrify). When the entire party is KO'd or Petrified, the game is over.

Stat Building System:

The game has done away with the tedious process of getting experience and leveling up. Instead, a new, innovative system has been introduced, which increases your stats based on your actions in battle.

HP increase: When a character's HP have dropped below 50% of his/her maximum, there's an 80% chance that the character's HP will increase.
MP increase: When a character's MP have dropped below 50% of his/her maximum, there's an 80% chance that the character's MP will increase.
Strength increase: When a character wins a battle, there's a 10% chance that the character's Strength will increase.
Vitality increase: When a character restores more than 50% of his/her HP, there's a 60% chance that the character's Vitality will increase.
Magic increase: When a character restores more than 50% of his/her MP, there's a 60% chance that the character's Magic will increase.
Speed increase: When a character flees a battle, there's a 30% chance that the character's Speed will increase.

The nature of this system allows you to plan a bit ahead when it comes to building your stats.

Magic System:

Everybody has the ability to cast white and black magic. To obtain these two spell schools, you will need to buy special items called Cryna Orbs from item stores for 100 Gil apiece. Then, engage in an enemy encounter. When you use a Cryna Orb, it will be thrown into the air and there's a 25% chance that the orb will absorb Magic Wisdom from the enemy party. If it fails, the orb shatters.

After you have obtained the wisdom orb, use it on a party member, and that party member will permanently learn the magic.

Trade System:

You will come across occasional people with green bags. These call themselves Barters, and are more than willing to trade items with you.

You may often pick up or steal items from enemies which are called "TradeItems" in the description. These items are of great value to Barters, although KioSen can use them in battle. When you select an item, the Barter will show a list of items you can trade your TradeItems for, and how many TradeItems they want. If you have enough of the TradeItems, you will trade the items.

Summoning:

This game features creatures called Dainsevs, which can be called upon in times of need. Every party member can summon these entities. When you find a Dainsev, you must equip it to someone. Dainsevs occupy the bottom slot of the equipment screen. When a character has equipped a Dainsev, he/she may now call upon it in battle, but equipping Dainsevs results in losses of a certain statistic. There are 18 Dainsevs in total.

Desperation Attacks:

Like in Final Fantasy VI, this game has a system called Desperation Attacks. Each character has a Desperation Attack. They can only be accessed when a character's HP are below 5% of maximum, and even then the chance is 5%, but when you get them, use them, as they'll be gone next round.

Plasma Disk: Deren's Desperation Attack makes him leap into the air, then dive down behind an enemy, firing a disk of energy while flashing in several different colors.
Graviton Cannon: Motor's Desperation Attack sees her enter a big turret which fires a huge energy beam at the enemy.
Angel Wings: Lisbeth's Desperation Attack makes her fly on top of the screen and grow wings. This skill fully heals the party.
Final Slots: Ibis' Desperation Attack allows him to activate a giant slot machine, which grants him a random quantity of a random powerful medicine item.
Twilight: Ellana's Desperation Attack makes her strike the enemy normally, but then she starts glowing purple and bursts through the enemy.
Feral Rave: Fuban's Desperation Attack lets him go invisible and strike the enemy three times. This is the most damaging of all Desperation Attacks.
Box of Toys: KioSen's Desperation Attack lets him drop several items on the enemy, including PuPus, Chocobos, small boats, teapots and balls, followed by an attack from his beaker.
