I got myself two expensive gifts for Christmas. First thing I got was a Yamaha DGX-220 Portable Grand Piano:
(IMG:http://www.napolitanostrumentimusicali.it/store/images/dgx220.jpg) This thing is sexy. I've seen piano keyboards with better lesson teaching (specifically those that have keys light up, this one has lessons shown on both staves and key icons on a small screen) but it's not a big deal; I don't need lessons anyway. Actually it's probably better this way for people truly wanting to learn the piano. I just tend to think things work out better if they're more beginner-friendly. Anyway, the sound quality and library (something around 500 playable sound styles) is superb, the keys feel natural and stimulate pressure, it's almost full-size (76 keys) and the stand is conveniently easy to handle. I haven't gotten to test the music composing/arranging capabilities yet, but from what I've seen so far it should be excellent. I've been very pleased with the DGX-220 and would definitely recommend it to any fellow musicians. The second gift I got should be a lot more familiar: (IMG:http://www.wired.com/images/article/magazine/1510/mf_harmonix_350.jpg) Yup, I got Rock Band and have just been having a blast with it. Having been a hardcore fan of Guitar Hero, the only thing I would play for the first couple of hours was the guitar (which has been really easy on Expert so far...well, I probably just haven't unlocked the really hard songs yet). However, after trying out the drums I became instantly hooked. I don't think I've had as much fun with a game since DDR first came out...this game is just a party. What I've started doing is actually mixing both playing the drums and singing. It's hella hard but soooo much fun. If anyone has a small fortune to spare Rock Band is a very nice way to spend it. Other than a small cash pool from relatives, Martinelli's and champagne from neighbors and gift cards from friends that was my Christmas. Hope everyone else had a good one as well. Haha, I must have the most boring list out of all of you. I only received/bought myself clothes. (IMG:https://rpgcrisis.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
I'm not really into console gaming anymore. I'm a PC gamer now. I am planning on buying myself a new mixer though. Alesis FW16 Multi-Mix. They had problems with them at first and were discontinued. But I found one, and with the updated drivers it will help my audio recording game out a lot! |
