We are pleased to announce Express Game Maker (EGM)!

Ever wanted to make games but you don't know how to program or draw? Wait no more! Express Game Maker is a 2D game making software that requires no programming or artistic knowledge to use. Make games for Windows, Xbox Live, and Silverlight.

What makes Express Game Maker different from the rest?

Intuitive user-interface… powerful C# engine… ease of use… loads of features… and multi-platform deployment.

EGM is designed from the ground up to be user friendly as well as powerful. Keeping in mind both beginner and advanced users, EGM has features to cater for all.

Beginner game developers will be able to take advantage of:
• Project templates that come with pre-setup data to quickly get them started.
• Resource packages that provide graphics, font and audio they can use in their games.
• The release version of EGM will also come with a built-in tutorial system to guide you through creating your first game.

Advanced users will be able to make their own project templates and take full advantage of:
• The custom databases.
• The powerful event editor.
• Multi-Variable System.
• The particle system.

Programmers can enhance their games by adding their own code to the fully open source C# engine written on top of XNA and even share the code with others.

Thanks for the interest. Unfortunately, there is no demo yet but the good news is only a few systems left to complete and the program will be ready to be shipped.

I second that. No need for me to buy this as I already own the RPG Maker 2000.

It looks really neat. I'd love to try it out.

But, I would suggest to have a Demo available for download.
Nobody is going to wanna pay for an RPG Maker Clone when they haven't tried the software and already have any RPG Maker.

About the similarity of the RPG Maker series, the interface is completely re-organizable. This means you can "drag n' dock" all the windows you see to anywhere you like. I've designed the interface (while in the game maker itself) you see in the screenshots similar to the RPG Maker series because this is a predominantly RPG Maker forum and I thought you guys would like the familarity of the game maker as well as customizability of it. I assure you, while it right now seems similar to Rpg Maker, when you use it, you will see how different yet easy it is. We will post more screenshots in the upcoming days and videos to make it more clear smile.gif.

As for the graphics, they are 100% custom. EGM will be release with a resource package and that resource package will be updated.

An of course, a demo will be out soon. We will reveal all the features slowly and then at last a set of videos and then a demo smile.gif.

What, really ohmy.gif ? That's amazing! Now I'm defenitly buying this. I mean THIS is the kind of feature I've always been looking for in a Game Maker!

Also I never said this Maker and RPG Maker were similiar. The point of my post was just to say "Well I already own RPG Maker 2000, which is totally awesome, so there is no point for me in buying a new Maker". Even IF I knew EGM was better then the RPG Maker I wouldn't buy it, since RPG Maker has a way bigger fanbase. Also if it becomes even easier to make great games, then nobody cares about your games at all. Why do you think I've sticked to the RPG Maker for so long tongue.gif ? The fact that some stuff is so much harder to do then with other Game Makers simply makes it so much more satisfying to create something.

Thanks for your input smile.gif. I disagree but respect your post. And I wasn't targeting you specifically at all smile.gif. Sorry for any misunderstanding caused. I hope you will change your mind once a demo is available, until then, happy game making biggrin.gif.

This looks extremely interesting, however, I still would rather use any other maker, than to have to pay for this. It looks amazing, but depending on what the cost initially is, is when I will make my choice whether or not to purchase it.
(And if you make a group of Beta testers, would you give them the program once it's done as a Thank you or something?) Curiosity takes it's toll on another reader.

I have no problem spending a little money for value.
But the keyword is value. I'm very familiar with RPGMaker 2k/2k3 and Sim RPGMaker95. I'll be using SRPG95 for awhile, then probably 2k3 for my next project (unless you can supercede it).

You need to convince me not only to spend a few bucks on it, but that it'll be worth investing the time to learn into it.

@Rekx, all other makers cost as well.

Well, I'm not sure about 2K or 95. But ya get my drift.

I will be downloading the demo and taking the audio, as I do with all game makers.

Patience is a virtue. Just wait until videos come up. This will run circles around Enterbrain makers, I know it.
