Hello Everyone,

Its been awhile since I last talked about development on RPG Crisis Version 2 so I decided to post some more information. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

As you know myself and a few others have been working on a new version of RPG Crisis (Annoucement Topic) known as V2. Originally slated for a late September/early October release date we were forced to push it back thanks to 2 coders who wasted my time. While we currently have no ETA for the sole reason of unforeseeable circumstances which seem to happen a lot with RPG Crisis. Around mid October I was able to get another coder and while we were originally going to reveal who it was at a later time I feel I should inform everyone now. Our fellow member, GoodLookingGuy will be coding the new site and once completed will be promoted to staff with the position of Site Editor.

I've already seen a little of his work so far on the new site which is a lot more then what the previous 2 coders showed me as they never produced any results but instead decided to just waste my time. While personally I would like to see the new site as soon as possible I've told GLG to take his time with it. I have no desire to demand or force GLG to work on the site considering he's doing all of it for free and beleive me when I say its a lot of work. I've also decided that the new site wont go live until everything is ready, we thought about updating the site in pieces but realized it would be more work that way.

Were also looking at having a beta of the new site once its done so we can see how it looks and works in an live environment. More information on that and much more next time.

Feel free to post any questions or comments you have.

On a side note, sorry for my lack of appearances, didn't realize how long I had been away.

Why don't you just hire a fucking coder and he can do it in 1/4 of the time

In this case, any news is good news. I was getting tired of seeing Read the Rules or Get Banned on the front page.
Personally, I never had a problem with the current layout of RPGCrisis (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif) Apart from the smorgasbord that is the Resources section, the site is uncomplicated and appealing to the eye.

Also, I sort of agree with clone and Ndrd. If you compare how much time has been spent coding vs how much money you could earn to pay for a pro in those hours, it was probably more cost effective to hire a coder to begin with. But at least you struck gold and found a guy willing to do it for free.

I agree with Clone. You should be making money with the ads on the site. You could use those funds to pay for a professional coder. Why take the risk of something going wrong. NO offense to GoodLookingGuy, but I doubt he is a professional. This is not a personal attack to you. It just would be easier for EC to use the resources he has here to pay for a professional coder.

I actually do believe he is not making money on ads on the site, and if he is, they are minor enough that it goes to hosting and domain. It is very difficult to make banner ads work as you rely on other people to click them...I don't know about yall, but I only click an ad once or twice when i see a good one...like a Runes of Magic ad I saw...I clicked that lol

Yeah, from what I understand, all ad revenue goes towards hosting and other forum fees. Also, coders aren't exactly cheap.

I looked into hiring a coder at one point, while true it would be much faster as I would be paying someone I just cant afford it. You (Clone) have no idea what we have in mind for RPG Crisis, were creating everything from scratch as what we need doesn't exist. One coder for hire I was talking to charged $30 an hour which isn't that bad and when I was done talking to him he estimated that it would take about 20-30 hours which comes to $600-$900, that's money I dont have. So please Clone in the future before you say something you have no idea about do some research.

I haven't received the check from Google yet and once I do, as stated it goes to hosting and backpay for the previous months of hosting since its been up.

You could just click every ad on the site. It would help EC a lot. You don't have to stay on that site for more than a few seconds.

It is important to remember a visitor cannot be suggested to click on every ad for the interest of milking money out of the ads system. This can lead to termination of EC's AdSense account as Google files this under "abuse" of the system.

I've never consciously clicked an ad in my internet lifetime (maybe once or twice back when I was total net noob). Even if I'm interested, I'll go to google and type in what I saw.

But For Great Justice, I'll click an ad once in awhile.

Leading Crisis Software. I need that. *click* num num num
