Component 'comdlg32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

does any one know what the problem could be?

This either means 1 of two things:
1. you do not have the vb runtime package installed
2. on occasion some vb componets to not register correctly

Found This Online.
QUOTE
Programs written in VB6 will operate in Windows Vista. However, Visual Studio 6, including VB 6, themselves do not work in Vista. Microsoft has announced they do not plan to support this in Vista, and suggest running XP in Virtualization (Virtual PC or VMware) to develop on a Vista computer.

You will need to use something like this to run 3D RPG Editor on Vista.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMware_Workstation

However this is a free tool by Microsoft called Virtual PC 2007, give it a shot.

I have a Laptop running Vista Premium 64-Bit Edition, I'll give this a shot later on in the week.
