EB has updated their site with something other then RPG Maker DS related news, which is a first in months.
https://www.enterbrain.co.jp/cgi-bin/tkool/...quete201004.cgi They've posted a new survey that ask certain questions about what RPG Maker fans would like to see in the next installment in the RPG Maker series for Windows. While we knew it was bound to happen sooner or later seeing how it is their most popular maker I'm surprised they didn't post this sooner. Questions 1-6 - Resource Related Questions 7 and 8 - Contest Related Question 9 - Asks what type of game you want to make with RPG Maker. Question 10 - Ask what features you would like to see in a future version of RPG Maker and ask for specifics. Now we wait for the official announcement of the next RPG Maker. |

Wow this is huge news.
Glad to see they're taking user feedback for the next project, as well! And on such a large-scale basis, too! Great post! Keep us up to date, EC! |

I see! This is pretty interesting.
I wonder if they're gonna seriously take this stuff into account ;O I hope so, because I really want some more futuristic/techy chipsets (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Even though a new Maker that suits your needs sounds pretty awesome and is pretty interesting I'll most likely stick to RM2K(3), anyways. I don't know, it's just not as satisfying when making a good game is easy to do. I mean I would totally love an RPG Maker with pixelmovement, because it would let you create Action Adventures or Jump 'n' Runs with ease, but then again I would still prefer to do those games in RM2K(3). After all I also didn't use IGM even though it would let me do the kind of game I just mentioned with ease.

The survey probably won't matter for anything. The next maker is probably already finished, and when they release it, they'll say it's what people wanted. That way, they won't get blamed for it if it isn't popular.

heh. Sounds like western democracy.
I disagree. Let's keep an eye on the polls and see what Enterbrain produces. It's not unheard of for a company to actually listen to it's fans. SNK used to be a prime example. |

How so?
Well RMXP lost many feature people liked in RPG03. Now yes it gave us scripting, but this left many to depend on people to learn the scripting and fill their requests. And RMVX brought back a few RPG03 features, but then they removed features that people liked in RMXP. Now yes you can still script using RMVX which solved most of this, but the most basic features should never leave, just be improved upon. |

While you are right on the money with RMXP and RMVX, twice in a row doesn't necessarily constitute always. If this next RPG Maker does less than RMXP and RMVX then it is a little bit safer to say that.

Not really another prime example is IGM. |

IGM is not RM but it is another program entirely. IGM isn't a step backward as no other IGM exist, regardless of how shitty it may be.
The example was for another EB product gone bad. |

I agree with Mad Klown. Sorry for calling just you a dickhead on that "Kick Ass" thread; I just thought we were going to end up being enemies, then befriending each other because we hate EB's latest programs, but eventually turning enemies once again, and ending up burning down a house, because it's like, "so cool", and adds to the heat (no pun intended) of the drama. We could have been friends, because I did call you that, but I did not call myself one either, to make it all fair and civil.
So here goes... We're both dickheads. Dickheads that prefer RPG Maker 2003 over all other RM programs. And I don't care to use IGM. |
