My favourite Game Maker is the RPG Maker, but I can't really say, that I tried all that many game makers.

Of course it also depends on what kind of games you prefer.

I'd say good old programming is best.
With no limits and endless possilibities, I can see why anyone would drop their game maker and pick up a C++ book!

It's also the hardest, though, and requires most motivation. In fact I even prefer a good RM2K game over a random programmed from scratch, simply for the fact that I can understand how to do something with RPG Maker and the more awesome stuff I see that is done with the RPG Maker, the more it impresses me.

^ I have to agree with you, Hack. It's nice to know how the designer did this and that. The community of RPG Maker is also a good reason to stick with the makers. But I must admit that if I knew how, I'd make my own engine and what not in a second. I hope to accomplish as much someday.

Anyway, my favorite Game Maker is RPG Maker 2003. Least limiting of all the makers (if you ignore scripting, of course) and is pretty nostalgic to me.

Totally agreed. I had gotten RPG Maker 2003, but it isn't sold anymore in Japan, so I got RPG Maker 2000 VALUE! instead.

RPG Maker 2000/2003 all the way. It's a perfect way to make good/bad RPGs without having to learn to code!

Yes. Do tell. Which SimRPG Maker do you speak of?

If I missed something, I'll cry. I swear it.

Um. Easiest to work with would probably be VX. And I recommend it for beginners.
Most fun I ever had using a Maker was probably Nedango.
