So, what are you going to make?
What genre in the action category do you plan to make?
Or, what kind of game would you like to be able to make?

I think.. for me i want to make a platformer first.. a platformer where you explore.. no maps.. no goals.. finding items and opening new areas.. but with a lot of platforming.

I hope everyone has their own ideas.. it will get repetitive to see nothing but mario clone after mario clone.. anyone planning something original?

Oh, and i want serious responces, no silly junk blurted out.. be serious.

I'm hoping that the Action RPG section of AGM will contain vauge resebmblence to RPG Maker on terms of being able to talk to NPCs, ect.

I also want to use the Shmup section to make Thunder Force Neo, a game I've had in the planning works for ages.

Very neat!
Some people have mention interest in wanted to use all game styles for making veriety.. like a shmup bonus stage.. not sure if that will be possible.

I hope that EB has brains enough to allow any style depending on level or map.

Not to offend... but can you not think of something more original?
I have a feeling this is how it is going to be, a saturation of clones... everyone and theirs mothers are going to be making mario games.. i thought of it to at one point, but i know it will be frowned apon, so i started brainstorming for something original.. my own character for one..

So.. you are seriously just gonna make an 8bit mario game?

Hope im not offending.. i just.. try and understand why use such software to do something like make clones when you have the power to really let your imagination shine.. oh well.. to each their own.

First game wouldn't hurt on a fangame or clone ya know. My plans is to actually make a shitload of original 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit games once I get familiarized more with the system. A great way to start is something based off a pre-existent game or franchise, at least for me. As for the crap load of Mario games, if your Mario game shines above many of the others, then you'll get a kudos for that. Even some Final Fantasy fangames made using RM2K3 still can be popular amongst many of the n00btastic fangames by n00bs. Besides the point some skilled RM users create remakes of pre-existing games. LoZ Links Awakening remake is an awesome edition, although the stability of the game is not remembered by me. As for offense, I'm not offended, thanks for offering constructive criticism which is something I welcome very much whether I want to or not. However I always wanted to create a Mario fangame, and this program offers me the chance to do so. If the game turns out well, then it will indeed be a popular one to play by the community. As for originality, again is something I've been wanting to do aswell but don't feel very feasible at the time for my first project using this program.

I'm going to make an Action Adventure game that's insanely hard.

Some basic facts.

- You start out with only 3 HP, it doesn't regenerate nor are there any potions to heal you. Every 5 levels 1 HP will be restored.
- At the beginning you can select the weapon you want to use, by default you can only select a sword or a bow. As you progress you unlock additional weapons like an Axe, magic type weapons as well as others.
- Each X amount of kills earns you 1 point. When you beat a level your able to spend your points, you can upgrade your current weapon or buy a new weapon. You can also spend a point to increase your max HP, doing this will add 1 HP.
- Each level will have a couple waves of enemies followed by the boss.
- Enemies will range from melee type to long range to magic users. Your constantly having to move or you will die.
- If possible and I hope it is I want to make this Co-op.

Well, i am still deciding between a platformer and an ARPG.... i have this idea also for a game that is.. well it is kind of like Castlevania, but it is just inspired by Castlevania.

Really i have a lot of ideas, but im just going to start with a platformer and then go from there.

On a side not, I think we should start a material section.. er.. well a um.. resources section, i have some things i want to post up for use for when the software is released.

this is a only a idea at the moment i havent done any brain storming for it yet
but i am thinking about doing a comander keen game, yes... this game used to be for MSDos on the windows 95/98 systems and i rekon it would be great to have a crack at remaking the game for the current windows operating systems, this had to be one of my favourite game along side tyrian a scrolling shoot'em up back when 98/95 were popular

but as i said its only a idea at the moment.

Im 28, so i have played a lot of games, even games not from my time.. im a true gamer in the sense that i even play old games.
I went back the other day and played some old atari games as well.
You should play many games from many systems from many different time periods to see where we have been and what has been done so you can get a better grasp on games as a whole, that way you can better make games of the future.

I like RPG Maker and now AGM because you can do very retro things with them... and it is good to know the worlds gaming roots.. we have not always been about halo and gears of war and so on.. at one time the industry was bustling with games where you simply walked around attacking monsters with a sword poking at them, or simply running through a level jumping on things.. games were not as realistic either as they are now, i can not stand all the hyper realistic graphics of late.

So do a search and study up on games, go read IGN retro sub site and learn about all things games.. then you can be ready to make some very bitching games (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

By the way, Commander Keen and Jazz Jackrabbit are both old platformers for PC, Commander Keen was for Dos and so was Jazz Jackrabbit 1 but Jazz Jackrabbit 2 was for windows 98.. Jazz Jackrabbit 3 was on the GBA and blew big monkey balls... it was not a very good game, Jazz Jackrabbit 3D was supposed to come out and was a 3D game but no one wanted to publish it.

wow i didnt even know about the other 2 jazz jackrabbit games i played number 2 but when i got to the end i couldnt get to the boss thus couldnt complete the game... was a very sad moment for me i played it for the whole day and then it ended up being a waste of time
