Just thought I'd state my opinion.
I tried AGM last night, finally.
I hate it. The user interface has got to be the worst designed interface in the history of any sort of program...
Seriously. This maker definitely earns it's place in my "Top Programs to Stay Away From"...
And, most likely at the top of that list, as well.
It's confusing as crap. And, I'm not computer illiterate, either...Trust me.
I gave up on trying to figure anything out well before 30 minutes was up.
I don't see why anyone would want to use this clunky program.
:\

I still haven't gotten AGM yet. But if it's that bad, then I guess I should just stay away from it. smile.gif

Plus, the size of the file (807 MB) would take me ages to download. So, yeah. tongue.gif

woah woah woah hold on, dont stay away from something before you really try it out first.

So what if its not as user friendly as rpg Maker VX, but... 30 minutes isnt really alot of time to let you actually test it out.

Its really quite simple if you start with a demo game. Once all the graphics are created and you have linked everything, all you have to do is make the canvas's and dialogue. Since in the demo game all of the graphics are already there for you, you can just add gadgets and other things to it to make a harder or easier game.

The retail version is where it gets confusing, o-o; If your making a game like me, you have to make the Menu's the graphics and other things either single handedly or with a team.

I'm really not fond of the interface either, but I guess I'll get used to it with time.
Don't forget people it's a completely new program, not likr a new rpgmaker version, where everything works more or less the same way.
Besides with time there will be more and more tutorials on it.

You have to give it more time, just by reading your post I can tell you went in to it thinking it was going to be like RPG Maker. While there are similarities is nothing like the RPG Maker programs. I really wish people would stop comparing it to RPG Maker, just because their made by the same company doesint mean their anything alike. You don't see people comparing Windows 3.1 to Windows XP do you?

Give it more time, the interface is actually arranged nicely for what AGM is meant to do.

It's different, that's for sure. But as long as your willing to learn you shouldn't have a problem.

The first time i looked at the programm i thought the same. But after a lot of time i spend on the programm it's easier to understand whats going on and what i have to do now. You just have to use your brain more than in RPG maker xp & vx and all the other rpg makers.
And yeah, its confusing but you can make more than just a RPG and for that the programm has to has (don't know if that exists xD) more functions than the RPG makers have.

Ok, i'm sorry for the good quality of my english laugh.gif

I've been confronted by a variety of game makers and AGM at the moment poses no real problem for me. Apart from the fact its very different and will obviously take time to get used to.

Remember, it took many of us newbies on RPG maker more than 30 minutes to figure out what switches and variables did.

eh i'm not much of a agm supporter because i tried it out for a good 2-3 days and its just not for me. I prefer either vx or SRPG95. and obsession just to tell you there are people out there that use vx and still dont understand variables and/or switches(personally i dont know a think about variables smile.gif )

Yeah, I second that.
Just spend a little more time with the program, you'll notice it isn't all that bad =)

Again when it comes to AGM I think I'm one of the most knowledgeable people in the English community. If you have any problems just asked, I'm willing to help others learn.

I thought it was confusing and frustrating at first but after looking working with it for a day or so and now checking out the demo sample game and knowing what does what i can honestly say its not that difficult to do certain things, the hardest part is probably menus cuz im not 100% how to work those yet

I thought it was actually quite difficult from the demo. What I'm worried about is the actual game you can make with it. It can't possibly be more difficult to use than Game Maker/MMF, right?

Okay. I had one good weekend of fooling around with AGM this past Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Mostly just with the Action RPG plug-in. Or whatever they're called.

I still think the interface is horrible.
Having to move and resize up to 3 windows inside one of the tabs is annoyingly stupid, for one.

I thought that the Maker series was so just about anyone can get into it and make a game...
And have fun while they are doing it.
That doesn't seem to be the case with AGM, though. Not at any point in diving into AGM did I think(while attempting to edit things, etc) did I say, "Hey. This is alot of fun." Most of the program seems to be a chore. They could have made it alot easier to play with. They did with the RPG Maker series. And I only compare the two for one reason...

With RPG Maker. It's fun.

If I wanted a complicated Maker program, I would just learn how to code myself.
I like the RPG Maker series because it makes it simple for me and other people to make games, share games, etc.

Like it or hate it...
People will look at AGM and think they will be getting a program similar to RPG Maker.
And they will all be disappointed in that they're nothing alike.
AGM is too complicated. I was hoping for an easy way to make an Action RPG...
If I didn't want it to be easy...Like I said...I would just learn how to code myself.
